Local branches (Förbundsområden)
Every member belongs to a local branch. There are 23 branches, which form the base of the union organisation. A branch can be made up of several sections. The branches, with one exception, cover provinces and presently have overall union responsibility, including negotiation rights. The branches elect representatives to the Committee of Representatives, which is the union’s supreme authority.
The Executive Committee (Förbundsstyrelsen)
The Executive Committee is the Swedish Police Union´s highest authority between the meetings of the Committee of Representatives and has ultimate responsibility for union activities. The committee is made up of nine elected representatives and five substitutes. They are elected for a period of four years.
The Committee of Representatives (Representantskapet)
The Committee of Representatives is the union’s supreme authority. It meets every two years to decide the guidelines for the work of the Swedish Police Union. All members have the right to propose a motion to the Committee of Representatives.
The Union Forum (Förbundsforum)
The Union Forum is the main forum for development of ideas. It is meant to be a union manifestation and a forum for acknowledging important events within the Union. The Union Forum takes place at least every four years.
The National Secretariat (Förbundskansli)
The National Secretariat has a staff of about 25 people, who work with member services, negotiations, information, lobbying, training and education, administration, etc.
